Posture Correction

Our posture gives an insight into the health of our spine and how our brain, nervous system and muscles are communicating. It can lead to other issues such as spinal dysfunction, joint degeneration, rounded shoulders, “tech neck”, and anterior pelvic tilts. Poor posture symptoms that are left ignored tend to accumulate and worsen over time, damaging and weakening the spine’s state.

Abnormal posture has been associated with the development and progression of many spinal conditions & injuries, including lower back pain, neck pain, shoulder injuries, scoliosis, disc injuries, and work and sports injuries.

Due to today’s advancement of modern technology, we spend more time in front of smartphones, devices and screens. Even daily activities of repetitive bending at work, studying and driving our cars place increased pressure on the small joints around muscles, discs and joints that support our spines. By overloading the spine constantly (ie. ‘microtraumas’), can lead to joints and soft tissue adapting to incorrect posture and potentially damaging the spinal discs and nerves.

Common symptoms associated with poor posture include:

  • Pain and discomfort
  • Achiness and soreness in joints and muscles
  • Lack of mobility and reduced flexibility
  • Sharp shooting pain
  • Stiff joints
  • Core muscle weakness

Successful treatment of poor posture requires proper diagnosis and assessment (neurological and physical) and X-ray referral, where indicated. At ELIA Chiropractic, we use state-of-the-art technology and testing to pinpoint the cause of your poor posture. Once this is established, we can then tailor treatment to achieve long-lasting results.

Our Posture Screen Assessment and computerised posture analysis of digital photos assist in a more accurate measurement of your condition, combined with chiropractic care, to provide you with a more personalised treatment plan that translates to better results and outcomes for your health and wellbeing.
